I can’t wait to travel to the south for the summer. I will be spending all of July in Conyers, Georgia. I love to travel around the united states. I love to experience the way people live in other states. It’s so amazing and intriging how people have different accents, eat different foods, and just the scenary is just incredible. I love eating! So spending a month in a state where fried food is worshipped is an ideal place to be.
The salmon team has started on a shaky start, but we are beginning to get better. On this team, I contributed by always sharing my opinion. I am not afraid to speak my mind and especially all negativity to enter the group. I also contributed a lot of the designing ideas. I am very good with making colors and making sure things are in order on a web page or the landing page we made. Lastly, another way I contribute in this team is staying organized. I am very good at notifying the group when we have assignments like individual or group work that is due the next day or weeks from then.
Personally, I hope to work on my math skills so I can help explain Excel difficulties the group has. I also am excited to show my creativity when starting to work on our pitch and video.
As a student at Chico State, I adapted to the scenery quickly. Everyone in this town is very friendly and humble. The classes I have taken here so far were very inspiring. I felt as if the teacher really cared about my education and wanted to see me succeed. This picture I have above is showing how beautiful and environmentally friendly this campus is. I adore the trees and creatures that live in this habitat.
In this business U-course, we learn different methods on how to use Excel. So far Excel looks very stressful and a pain to use, but it is a lot easier than having to actually write out a spreadsheet. I found it very useful on how you can calculate your math on the spreadsheet without having to depend on a calculator. I will have to admit that this is my favorite feature of Excel. My least favorite thing about Excel is the undo button. When you exit out of an equation or start on another part of the spreadsheet, you realize you made a mistake in the first box, and you can’t undo your mistakes. Pretty much Excel is very efficient and helpful. I recommend this to everyone especially business owners, real estate, students, and mostly accountants.
In class the professor Curt Deberg, assigned three videos of him explaining how Rachel used Excel to create personal financial statements and business financial statements. It was somewhat helpful, but I preferred the way he taught it in class today. The way he taught it in class made way more sense and it was more hands on then the video was. That is my personal opinion.
Since this is my first journal entry I am going to explain what my favorite things about this course and what would I change.
During this U-Course there were three things I favorited the most so far this spring semester. I really enjoyed the fact that the professors actually take the time to make video blogs showing examples for Excel. I find this very helpful when trying to finish Excel assignments that are usually due Saturdays at 6pm. This course is very useful when they have a preparation sheet on the Blackboard account. This is actually very helpful when preparing for what we are doing the next class session. Also, we have these check-in and check-out quizzes which the answers are mostly from what they put on the preparation page. Lastly, I really enjoy the way we can interact with our group and be able to finish most of the group work in class. This helps us be able to finish ,or at least have an idea of what we have to do before it is due the next day.
If I was able to change anything about this course then, I would change the way a student is absent from a group they don’t get the same amount of credit as everyone else does. Students who decide to take an absent with no excuse shouldn’t get the grade for the group projects. Personally, so far this class is going great and that is the one flaw I find in this class.
